Bank End Equine Rescue

Dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of equines in need.

Dora and Casper

Dora, a 12hh Welsh Section A mare came to Bank End after we bought her at Holmfirth Horse Fair at Easter 2009.  She was in foal but we weren't told when she was due. She produced a beautiful colt for us on 9th August 2009

Pagan

Pagan is a 9 year old Friesian x Andalucian gelding. We bought him from York sales as an emaciated 22 month old colt, no one could understand why we wanted anything so ugly, he a definate "mule" look about him, all big head, knees and hocks but we knew that he would turn out to be a stunner and look at him now!!

Chantelle

Chantelle was the little horse that brought Bank End Equine Rescue to be formed.  Please see the Chantelle Story, be prepared to weep...

Petals

Petals is an elderly donkey mare whom we found at Holmfirth Horse Fair.  She has obviously been used for breeding for many years, her feet were in terrible condition and she was just a tired out, well used old lady.  She doesn't owe anyone anything so she is now retired at Bank End, hopefully for many years to come.

Sidney

Sid is a beautiful 17hh Hanovarian gelding and just 13 years old. Sid came to us in the of 2008 Summer as a retiree due to a progressive bone disease.  He had been a top flight competition horse in his younger days and now is enjoying an early retirement with best friend Sherlock, the donkey.

Franklin

Franklin is the sweetest natured stallion you could imagine. He was rescued from the french meat trade last year when he was retired from a very successful racing career aged 13.  He had won over £100,000 yet his breeders were sending him to slaughter.

Sherlock

Bank End's superstar donkey who was rescued from York sales suffering respiritory distress, lice ridden and hosting a belly full of worms.

Reuben

Reuben is a 3 year old New Forest x Arab gelding.  He was bought from York sales grossly underweight and terrified of human contact.  He had been "broken" at just 2 years old.  Reuben is now learning how to be a horse again.
